HARVEST FESTIVALS

I saw some paddy which were cut and dried in the rice fields by my house.
Harvesting rice is a common sight in the autumn in Japan.
It has gotten cold recently and winter is approaching.

A lot of local autumn festivals are held in many parts of Japan at this time of year,to give thanks for good harvests.
There is a small shrine near our hostel which is called SORASAYA shrine(10mins walk) and an autumn festival is held here on the 2oth and 21st of October with KAGURA dance and music.KAGURA is a Japanese word referring to a specific type of SHINTO theatrical dance.

The festival offers locals a chance to learn more about traditional Japanese culture, while having a good time!!
