Hi there!!

Taco Party in Hida Takayama

We had a TACO party at J-Hoppers Hostel in Hida Takayama.

Las time when I did it in Hiroshima one month ago, it was quite costly since we didn’t cook tortilla (taco shell) and salsa sauce by ourselves but bought them easily.

So this time I tried cooking homemade tortilla and salsa sauce.

This is how it was going.

Provecho

The homemade taco was very good.

Yuya, one of the Takayama fellows knows how to cook as he has lived in US for many years.

The only thing I regret is we should have made more tortilla before we started the party.
We had made about 50 pieces of tortilla but they got packed into the guests’ stomachs in a moment.
So we had to run to the nearest supermarket to buy some more strong flour for the next.

But when I came back from the supermarket, they had started eating the ingredients and salsa sauce separately as side dish with beer.
Then we had to cook more salsa sauce and some other ingredients, too …

Anyway, I enjoyed myself to cook and eat the homemade tacos.

Gracious
Hasta pronto.

New hostel in Aso, Kyusyu

New Backpackers is open at Aso, Central Kumamoto in Kushu !
http://www.aso-backpackers.com/

Aso-Base Backpackers has just started the business. It is located within a stone's throw distance from JR Aso station.
The backpackers is run by a charming couple, Yoshi and Miyoung. And they now offer a big discount for the dorm beds until Nov 7, which is the official opeing day.

There had been no decent hostel in aso before, so it will be a very good base to travel in/around central Kyushu for Japanese and foreign backpackers.
If you are planning to travel in Kyushu, don't miss visitting Aso!

English menu

I've just found a very interesting website for foreigners living or visiting Kyoto, Osaka and Kobe. It's called "Certified perfect english menu". It lists the restaurants of the area which have a english menu, a 'real' english menu, not only few words approximately translated.

It's here : "Certified perfect english menu"

Great BBQ Party in Hiroshima !!

We had a great BBQ party at the riverside just near the Peace Memorial Park with 4 hostels in Hiroshima, Backpackers Miyajima, K's House, HANA Hostel, and J-Hoppers Hiroshima.

The party was held for as an opportunity for international cultural exchange with local people in Hiroshima and people from foreign countries. The place we had the party has an awesome view, we could see a beautiful sunset. The BBQ fee was just 500yen, the situation of the party was so nice - over 70 people joined our party!!

The party participants, a roughly 50:50 split between Japanese and foreigners, enjoyed cross cultural conversation with beer and BBQ until after sunset.

So many people got into the party and had fun, the hostel staff needed to go to the super market a number of times to get meat and vegetables. Everybody enjoyed the BBQ party and cross- cultural conversation.

It was really great BBQ party, we'd love to have the party again to make Hiroshima as famous as possible to visit for people from foreign countries!!
