Trip to Seto Inland Sea - Naoshima

Hello there!
This is Masa from J-Hoppers Hiroshima.

I had a trip to Seto Inland Sea the other day.
I visited two amazing islands, Naoshima and Teshima on this trip. These islands are known as 'Art islands' and you can find so many artworks everywhere. I had such a great time there, so let me share some photos and my story.

On the first day, we took ferry from Uno port in Okayama and after a 20-minute ferry ride, I could see the modern ferry terminal in Naoshima.

And Yayoi Kusama's artwork - Red Pumpkin.

From the ferry terminal, we took a bus to our accommodation of the night, Tsutsuji-So.
We stayed in a Mongolian style tent called Pao!

And there was a beautiful beach just in front of the Pao.

There was another Yayoi Kusama's famous artwork at the end of the beach - Yellow Pumpkin.

After chilling out at the beach for a while, we went to the Chichu Art Museum.
It was too bad we were not allowed to take photos in the museum, but it was AMAZING!!! It exists as part of and ongoing initiative to "rethink the relationship between nature and people." The artists used the sky, the natural light and the scenery for their artworks, so the appearance change with the passage of the day and the season. Such wonderful artworks.

I am actually not a museum person, but I really, really loved the museum and will definitely come back again!

If you are also not a museum person or do not want to visit art galleries, you still can enjoy exploring. It is such a beautiful and peaceful island. :)

Most of the shops and restaurants are closed early but we found a very nice restaurant "Nakaoku."

The restaurant is like an traditional Japanese house and they serve delicious meals with local fresh ingredients. I was very happy to find this place and had a very relaxing night.

We went to Teshima the another art island on the second day.
I will write about it on my next blog :)

Yase -Where to Swim in Kyoto-

Yase (八瀬) is located in the northeast in Kyoto. It's 1 minute from Yasehieizanguchi Station (八瀬比叡山口) on the Eizan Railway (it takes about 15 minutes from Demachiyanagi Station).

It is in the foot of Mt. Hiei, the mountain stream is flowing. The boys and girls were outing to the riverside and enjoying summer vacation fully and happily. We were able to do BBQ, too (earlier holding a place is recommended). Since there was a very shallow place, my two years old daughter was also able to enjoy herself.

Why don't you go to Yase to swim because the sea is very far away from Kyoto city?

London Olympics and the sailing at Weymouth, my home town.

Well the events will be well under way by the time you read this, and your countries might already have a few medals in the bag. I am from a small town on the south coast of England called Weymouth.

As you can see, it is quite a lovely place in the summer, and hundreds of thousands of people flock to the beach every year to bathe in the clean waters and lie on the soft sands.

We hope these guys can go all the way again.

We also have a few Olympians living in the town. They won gold medals in Beijing in 2008. We all hope that they can repeat the same haul as four years ago.
                                                                 Go for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went to yoga class last week.

I started yoga when I was in Australia.
I feel calm and relaxed every time after I do yoga.
I really like it.

And also I visited Rishikesh where is a holly place for yoga when I traveled in India.

The beatles stayed in the place for yoga training too.

This is the place the beatles stayed!!

I stayed in ashram which is yoga dojo for 5 days.

It was only 200 yen for an accommodation and lessons.
It's quite cheep!!

I did meditation for 1 hour in the morning and had yoga class twice a day and ate vegetarian meal.

There are many kinds of vegetarian curry.
It was really tasty and I could eat it everyday!!

Yoga is effective not only for your health but also your mental.

I highly recommend to visit there and try yoga when you travel India☆

J-Hana- drink party!

We finally hang out together. We went to an Izakaya in Temma to drink.
Obviously, Ranna could not make it because she had to work until 22:00 but
Nansuke came after work.
I think hanging out with co workers is really important. Also it was absolutely fun.
Mr. Yano seemed to enjoy it as well. Hope to have this kind of the party again soon!
Thank you alll.

Ashiya Firework Festival

Ashiya Firework Festival

I went to Ashaiya firework festival on July 21st!
Ashiya city locates next to Kobe city and this festival is not huge like Tenjin festival or Yodogawa fireworks festival.

We got together at my friend's place earlier and made hair arrange and had lunch, it might be more fun than watching fireworks!

We had a shaved ice on the way we went back to my friend's place, I had a lemonade flavor, it was my first time to try that taste, it was pretty good!!!!

I'm going to Tenjin festival this Wednesday, it must be super crowded but it's summer!
We should do this!!!!!!!!!!!
