We are the champions!!

We are the champions!!

Our local team ,Sanfrecce Hiroshima became a J-League champion on Saturday with one round remaining after a 4-1 demolition of Cerezo Osaka. It was Sanfrecce's first victory in 17 years.
More than 32000 spectators came on a cloudy day at Hiroshima Big Arch last night.

I think the most popular sports in Hiroshima is baseball, and football is popular as well as baseball.
For your information, Hiroshima local baseball team is Carps!

The numbers of guests who come to Hiroshima hana hostel to watch football game has been increasing recently.

A short while ago , Koh san from Malaysia bought a Sanfrecce's T-shirt at V-POINT Sanfrecce's official goods shop at DeoDeo electronics shop.

Watching sports is a common pastime in Hiroshima.
Enjoy cheering for carps and Sanfrecce!!

Techniques to book a room when it is full :)

Today, I write techniques to book a room when it is full :)

Have you ever tried to book a room and refused? Because they are full.
Do you give up?  Or do you wait for a chance putting your name on the waiting list  ?

If you wanna wait , I advise you to do these 3 things as shown below.
These will help you to catch more chance!

First, contact receptions several times.

If you do this, staff know your situation more and more.
If cancellation happens, they might give you it earlier than others.
Communication is very important.

Second, wait for bed or room with less people and dates.

For example,  4 people wait for 3 nights cancellation....
Do you think they can get space easily ?
In fact, it is really difficult.

Almost all hotels have many single (dormitory) and twin rooms.
Therefore, you should wait for these rooms.

And only a few people stay long.
This means you should wait for 1 night or 2 night cancellation as much as possible.

I advise you to put your name on each days.
Then we can contact you even if 1night cancellation happens.

Third, Catch our contact and reply us soon.

We contact you when the cancellation happens and eventually you get a chance to stay!
Unfortunately some of you do not reply us soon.

We afraid you do not need this and ignore us.
Then we give this change to next waiting guets.

If you strongly need beds or rooms, please check our contact everyday.
Otherwise you miss your chance.

These 3 techniques are very easy but important.
Be patient and believe yourself.

Thank you so much.

Israeli food

Which country's food do you like?
I like Thai food, Italian, Mexican, Indian, Korean and of course Japanese food.
The food is very important when you travel to other countries.
I can eat anything and I like trying something new even bugs!!(I tried them in Thailand)

One of my favorite food is falafel from Israel.
falafel is small croquette of mashed chick peas or fava beans seasoned with seeds.
I often ate that and kebab when I traveled to Israel.
It was really yummy!:)

My coworker Meg told me that there was an Israeli restaurant in Kyoto.
I went there last week with my friend who has been to Israel together.

The restaurant has a small lovely garden court inside and room is decorated with pictures of Israel.
The food does not taste exactly same as a local one but still great!
It has become my favorite!

We had a really good time talking about our travel.

Now we are looking for a Jordanian restaurant.
If you find one, let me know:)

Autumn Leaves at Mitaki Temple

Hello everyone,
This is Masa from J-Hoppers Hiroshima.

The leaves are turning in Hiroshima and I enjoy seeing the beautiful color in town everyday.

There are some good spots for those leaves in the Hiroshima area, and my favorite place is Mitaki Temple. It's located just outside of Hiroshima city and you can get there by train or by bike (about a 30-minute bike ride from J-Hoppers Hiroshima). The temple complex is great because buildings are in a natural setting on the mountain side. It's not like other temple gardens in Japan, the trees are less controlled and it feels like "real" nature but it's such a perfect combination. It's easy to forget that the temple is beside a big city.

Also there is a mountain behind the temple,
and if you claim up to the top (about a 30-minute hike)...

You can see all of Hiroshima!

If you have an extra day in Hiroshima, this is the great temple to visit!

Universal Studio Japan! Horror night!

I went to Universal Studio Japan on November 10th.

It was horror night which is many zombies walk around in Universal Studio Japan after 6pm!
Because of this, I had to wait 180 minutes for 1 attraction.

There are some attractions which swith to horror virsion after 6pm,
we rode JAWS, we waited for 90 minutes though, there were zombies!!!

After JAWS we walked horror area, there are so many zomies!

Here is a nurse!
It was scary but fun!
I hope I can go next year!

Korankei (Best spot of the Autumn leaves in Chubu area)

I went to Korankei in Toyota city ,Aichi Prefecture to see colored leaves

It is one of the top-ranked places for  colored leaves

Every year visitors coming from in and out of Aichi prefectures keep increasing particularly to see the beautiful autumn leaves. The 4,000 maple trees covered with the colors of yellow and red is the best part.

The trees have been illuminated  until 9:00 in the evening

Back to the School Days

I am 23 years old.

As you can imagine, I'm already done with all the school stuff besides learning.

But on November 3rd, me & Tsubasa (our night duty staff) were back to the school kids again only for one day.

We went to Kizugawa Art Festival at one abandoned elementary school in Kuzugawa city (I don't know where exactly it is but it is almost in Nara).

What you could find there are many art works by young (could be old) Japanese artists placed everywhere in the school property.

This is not a art work but is the typical statue can be sought basically every elementary schools in Japan. It is almost an art work in terms of its purpose of  enlightening children.

Anyway, the main purpose of ours was to have SCHOOL LUNCH!!!
Me and Tsubasa were too excited and too hungry enough to forget to wear slippers, and went upstairs almost unconsciously for the school lunch!
(No wonder our foot was freezing. realized all the people except us were wearing them later )

We were catered just like we had been before (This was the first Japanese school lunch for Tsubasa though).

The main menu was Japanese style curry using local ingredients.

This is what we got to eat!

I tried milk for the first time in those 10 years after my graduation from junior high.
And I double checked that I don't really like it so I just gave it to Tsubasa who loves it.
This small donation during the lunch time was also nostalgic.

After the lunch, we played a lot like school kids with swings, seesaw, and all the other art works.

Never be able to make us physically small again, but this was definitely the day we were back to school days again!

What a memorable day it was.

One day trip from Hiroshima!!

Hi there!!This is Chika from J-Hoppers Hiroshima guesthouse.

It's getting cold as time passes.....
But!!!!The season for autumn leaves finally started at the beginning of Novenber!!!yay!!

By the way,Have you been to Kurashiki before??
Kurashiki is a historic city located to the west of Okayama Prefecture.
It is pretty good place for one day trip from Hiroshima.

If you have a Japan Rail Pass, you could just hop on SHINKANSEN KODAMA from Hiroshima to Shin-Kurashiki station.
It take about 1 hour and change the local train to Kurashiki station.
Even if you do have the rail pass, you can go there by local train.
In this case, sometimes you have to transfer the train at  Itosaki or Fukuyama.
But depends on,there is direct train from Hiroshima to Kurashiki.
It takes around 2 hours and half.

Kurashiki is the home of Japan's first museum for Western art, the Ohara Museum of Art.
The old merchant quarter is called the Bikan historical area. It contains many fine examples of 17th century wooden warehouses (kura,) painted white with traditional black tiles, along a canal framed with weeping willows and filled with koi.

There are lots of nice and good cafe and shops and as Bikan area is so beautiful,so I could't stop taking photos when I visited there :-)

Besides, there is a huge outlet shopping center where the opposite to Bikan area.
If you feel a bit tired with sightseeing, why don't you go this outlet shopping center?

Iwakuni Kintaikyo Airport Opening December 13th !!

Iwakuni Air Station, where United States Marine Corps and other American military personnel are posted in Iwakuni, Yamaguchi Prefecture, decided to open a fully civilian airport on December 13, which is to be called Iwakuni Kintaikyo Airport.

ANA decided to operate a new domestic route connecting Iwakuni Kintaikyo with Haneda Airport.
This will be the first time in 48 years as well as from tourist travel to the famed Kintaikyo wooden arched bridge in Iwakuni, to Miyajima and other local landmarks.

I could not find how to get to Iwakuni JR station from Iwakuni kintaikyo Airport...but Its website says  It takes 7 min by car to the station ... only car ?? I will blog when I find another way to go to the airport, hahaha
