Lunch Recommendation near Hana Hostel

Konnichiwa from Hiroshima Hana Hostel. Its getting hotter and hotter now in Japan and I am already planning my trip for Summer!!

Hana Hostel is located 5 minutes walk from Hiroshima Station, there are many place to eat.
Let me tell you some nice place to satisfy your stomach !

At 1st, This is my most favourite noodle restaurant "KAIRI" only 5 minutes walk from Hana.
Okonomiyaki is well known as Hiroshima's speciality food, but TSUKEMEN is also one of Hiroshima's speciality food Dip cold noodle into Spicy soup.

Try Hiroshima Style Tsukemen!! You can chose how spicy you want, I usually have spicy level 3.

MARUBIYA is located about few minutes walk from Hana. It is located in the middle of traditional Market. You can see Japanese old style market which might be one of great experience.
They have daily lunch special, its about 700 yen. Marubiya is really small restaurant has only small counter, about 10?? seats.

But atmosphere reminds me Japanese good old days, and I am quite sure you will like it, too!
When you visit Hiroshima, please ask us any other recommendation to satisfy your stomach!

Booking advaice :)

Thank you very much for visiting our homepage.
Osaka Hana Hostel has opened for 1 year ! ( Anniversary is coming soon!)
Thanks to you, we become popular and famous among the hostels in Japan.

Sorry but it is pretty difficult to book beds/ rooms which you want.
Because the number of rooms are just 1 or 2 as 1room type.
For example, JPN ensuite double rooms are only 2 .

Then I wanna give you advice when you book our hostel.(^0^)
①Please check Japanese calender in order to avoid holidays.
Not only Normal holidays, It might be better to avoid Golden week and Obon.
Shops are open, but almost all companies are on holiday.
This is a kind of paradise for worker and students!

②If your first priority room is not available, please ask us another suitable rooms.
If you request " We are a family. grandma has backache. "
We can advice you rooms without stairs.
But if you do not say anything, you will be in trouble after you get in rooms.
We hope you stay in comfortable rooms but we cannot change it if rooms are fully booked.

Thank you very much for reading.
We really appreciate I am here for you.

Hope to see you someday.

Hooters in Osaka

A famous casual restaurant from America has just opened in Osaka finally!!
Do you know about "Hooters"?

They offer customers the look of the “Cheerleader, Surfer, the Girl Next Door”; the Hooters Girl.
And they perform the dance too:D

The casual beach-themed “neighborhood” restaurant features a fun and casual atmosphere, fabulous food and drinks at a reasonable price, backed up by great services delivered by Hooters Girls.

Hooters is opened at Nakanoshima for 3months in this summer!!

Let's make Ume Syrup ♪

The rainy season, known as Tsuyu in Japan, has begun.
the rainy season comes Ume . Ume (Japanese plum) is associated with the season that the word tsuyu literally means "Ume rain": 梅雨.

Do you know Umeshu?Umeshu is a liqueur made by soaking unripe plums in crystal sugar and Shochu.Recently, Umeshu is very popular among young women and It is one of my favourite sakes in Japan. but...I can't drink alcohol now and I decided to make Ume Syrup with Umes from my friend this time.

*Clean the jar with water and let it dry.
*Wash the ume in water, and throw away any mouldy fruit and de-stem them.

*put them in a plastic bag

*leave them in the freezer for a day

*Begin layering rock sugar and plums such that the plums aren’t crowded by other plums and are evenly dispersed in the rock sugar. This is easily done in layers of alternating plums and sugar.
(When you make Umeshu, gently pour the shochu over the plum and sugar mixture. )

-a day after -
*Once a day, take it out and gently shake the jar to help the rock sugar dissolve.
I’ve finished! Leave it in the cupboard until it’s ready.

I can't wait to drink it....
Other types of fruits are being mixed with Shochu so as to create fruit wines, and along with umeshu, many people are making them at home for alcoholic health drink.

I will try to make  other types of fruits one next (^^)

Many Thanx to YUNO!

Konnichiwa from Hiroshima Hana hostel, its Kana Here.
Its getting hotter for the summer ! Can't wait for all the summer activities!

We sometime have free accommodation staff. As I introduced on the previous my blog, we had a free accommodation staff from South Korea. Her name is Yuno.

Even though she was here for a month, all our staff loved her a lot and felt like she was with us more than few months.

She helped with us cleaning the room, entertaining the guest with Sake (we have sake tasting every Wed and Sun), and Okonomiyaki.(we have regular party every Thu)

Also we had many opportunity to drink together, because both of me and her like drinking A LOT.

We visited SAIJO (famous for Sake brewery) together for sake tasting which was really enjoyable.

There are more and more good memories about her and we all missing her. She is in Fukuoka Hana Hostel as a free accommodation staff and leaving in few days.

I really thank to get to meet and know her at Hana hostel. This is one of the best reason to work here to meet many people from all over the world!!!

Thanks Yuno!! See you soon in Korea!!

Must visit place if you visit Japan..... Takayama!!! (J-hoppers)

Since I came back to Japan after a absent of maybe 12years....(this does not include short visits and involving work...) I promised my self a domestic trip a month which is not very hard to organize if you are working for J-hoppers/Hana Hostel!!!
So I decided to visit all J-hoppers and Hana Hostel to start with and the month of May, I visited Takayama/Shirakawago.
Many people do not give much attention to Takayama/Shirakawago because, International Flight does not land (well no airport for that matter!), not busy city where you can do lots of Shopping, a little bit out of the way......or simply don't know the existence...
I must admit that Takayama is the one of must visit place in Japan!
The old town is fantastic to walk around and does not take much time but at the same time, you can spend hours visiting such as Yoshijima house (Important property), very close to Takayama Station and you can feel the great old Japan but different from Kyoto or Nara.

People of Takayama so warm that you feel really welcomed!
I met a few people along the way and all of them were so warm and interesting people!

One of the highlight if not the best, is that there are many Sake breweries based in Old town and you can do many free sake tasting and purchase very local sake.
