Garyu Sakura

This is Matsu from J-Hoppers Hida Takayama.

Takayama is one of the coldest areas in Japan so you could see Cherry Blossom until late April.

Normally to see Sakura in this area is 2 weeks behind compared to Kyoto ,Tokyo and Osaka.

Last week I went to see Garyu sakura at Hida Ichinomiya ( 10 minutes from Takayama)

There is 1000-year-old cherry tree in Garyu Park. “Garyu” means “lying dragon” because the shape of the tree’s trunk and branches  The tree, which is said to be over 1,100 years old, is designated as a national natural treasure. It is gorgeous!!

What are some of your favourite places to see cherry blossoms?
