A trip to Katata in Shiga Japan. A temple on Lake Biwa

This week we went to Katata a city which is 20 minutes away by car form the J-Hoppers Lake Biwa Guesthouse.

In Katata we first visited the famous Lake Biwa Bridge which is 2 kilometers long and connects Katata on the west side with Moriyama on the east side. In the middle of the brige is a observation deck with a spectacular view on the lake.

After our trip on the bridge we went along the seaside in Katata to the famous Ukimi-do Temple. On our way we found a hidden shrine which was surrounded by trees. The ground was covered with many leaves and it looked very beautiful. But not only the shrine was very beautiful, the area along the sea had so many wonderful japanese houses too.







When we arrived at the Ukimi-do Temple we were impressed. The temple and the area around the temple looked so pretty. All was covered with big pines and stones. The impressive thing about the Ukimi-do Temple is that it was built on water.
