Trying Takoyaki the first time at Nishiki Market in Kyoto
Hello Julian and Sumi here!
Yesterday in Kyoto we tried Takoyaki for the first time.
We bought 8 balls at the Nishiki Market in Kyoto. Takoyaki was initially popular in the Kansai region and later spread to the Kanto region and other areas of Japan.
The main ingredients are batter, octopus, tempura scraps (tenkasu), pickled ginger and scallions.
The first Takoyaki ball I tried was not that good, because I only ate the ball without any sauce or some other topping.
The rest of the Takoyaki I ate with mayonaise and it tasted very delicous, so you should definetly use the mayo for it. Overall it was very nice and I would eat it again.
