The Romantic Train along the River in Kyoto

Hi,this is Ena from Hiroshima Hana Hostel.
In early December, the day when I visited Kyoto to see my friend was  nice and warm.It was the best time to see autumn leaves because this winter had been warmer than usual  until the Chrismas day(It has become very cold all of a sudden this week...).

She moved to Kyoto this year and we both had not been to Arashiyama before,so we decided to go there.Arashiyama is really famous for Bamboo forest. However,it was so crowded. We took the Sagano Scenic Railway instead.

The Sagano Scenic Railway (嵯峨野観光鉄道),also known as the Sagano Romantic Train or Sagano Torokko, is a sightseeing train line that runs along the Hozugawa River between Arashiyama and Kameoka. It takes about 20-30 minutes for a one way ride of the 7km journey. The unique train have big windows (the best car,#5 has no glass windows),so it is nice to take photos of mountains and valleys.Seats are nicely old and all wooden.

As you can imagine, you can not take a photo of the train itself while riding the train. No worries. If you get off at JR Hodukyo Sta,you can take beatiful photos!

We only took a one way train ride from Torokko Kameoka Sta. to Torroko Sagano Sta. this time after sunset. It was really nice to enjoy the train ride but it was not the best time for taking photos,so we would like to come back for riding the train during the day and early summer next time.

I Highly reccommend it!!!
