End of autumn hike in Takayama

Hi everyone !
It is Nana from J-Hoppers Hida Takayama Guesthouse.

Some days ago the weather was still nice and the sky clear, so I headed up to one of my favorite point of view in Takayama : Harayama. This place is quite unknown but I really do like the open view from the summit. And I was lucky as I enjoyed a view from Hakusan to Norikura ~ Well a little more snow would have been incredible, but the foliage would not have been as good as this too... Hard to get everything at the same time !

View from Harayama
This big loop is a walk that I normally recommend for people who wants to do a small hike but do not have time or money to get to the Alps. If you start walking form the guesthouse the all loop is long enough to last about 3h, specially if you add Matsukura Castle ruins as I do every times. The course start behind the Hida Folk Village so I took some times to get a shot of the foliage there too. Then you can choose to start your loop either by Matsukura or Harayama. This time I went to Harayama first through the para-glider field. Then from Harayama I chose the Kanon temple path to reach Matsukura as I wanted to see Ontake too. And I saw it !  Then from Matsukura I took a really small path to go back to the folk village. I would not recommend this path to anyone, as another one is easier to walk.

On my way

Ontake on the way

Norikura on the way

Shin-Hotaka range from Matsukura

Norikura from Matsukura
So if you would like to do some exercice this is quite of a small hike.
Takayama : 500m | Harayama : 905m | Matsukura : 857m
Just be careful about the bears and either took a bear bell or hit the metalic barrels on your way !

Nice to meet you

Hello! I'm a new staff Misaki from Osaka Hana Hostel.
Nice to meet you everyone!

I was born in Hyogo prefecture, I've seen a lot of animals in the wild around my area such as monkey, boar, sneak and raccoon...

One day I took my dog for a walk at night, I felt something coming from my back.
I was really scared to see what it is but I looked back, it was a big boar coming toward to me;( The boar chased me frantically but I got home safely. I don't want to ever happen again Lol

Anyway I want to introduce to you one of my favorite cake shop in Nishinomiya,Hyogo.

The name of the store is "Tsumagari" it takes about 2.3 min from Hankyu Koyoen station on foot.

They always have various kinds of cake! Whenever I go to this store, it take so much time to choose one! If you are lucky, you will get a free cookie or something:)

Why don't you try???

Birthday Dinner - Rocket Chicken

Hi, this is Shiz from J Hoppers Hiroshima.
It was my birthday last Sunday and I barely made it to dinner on that night. (Pretty much sleeping... eating  and going back sleeping the whole morning and afternoon from drinking the night before... it was so much fun haha).

So, this dinner place that we went, I heard it from my friends and I wanted to try out.
Different friends told me about it at different times but they were saying exactly the same thing about this chicken, " I don't know what they do to the chicken, but it's sooooo gooood!!!".
So we booked this place and got to see what they serve.
!!!Rocket Chicken!!!
Steamed? and grilled using lots of spices and herbs? and bourbon whiskey. Yes, it was soooo goooood. They cut it for you and serve it with this special sauce in the middle.
Oh my ****!!! Damn!! The sauce!!!! I don't know what they do to the chicken and the sauce but it was sooooooooo gooooooood!!!!! I'll definitely come back.

They serve an automatic appetizer for 300yen(small salad: green lettuce and whitebaite)(it's like a seating charge)  and this is all you can eat!
Their other dishes were also good. We enjoyed everything and ate too much lol.
