GO GO Hiroshima!

Hi,this is Ena from Hiroshima Hana Hostel.
Yesterday, I went cheering for the national high school baseball championship(全国高校野球甲子園) for the first time. For a long time,it was what I wanted to do.I finally did it! Of cause,I supported a team from Hiroshima.

Originally,I had a plan to visit my relative  who lives in  Kobe with my mother and her sister.
However, something came up to him afternoon and we met him in the morning and we said bye to himr before lunch time. When we were leaving there,I realized that the baseball game for Koryo( 広陵)high school, from Hiroshima, against Sendai Ikuei (仙台育英)high school, from Miyagi, will start at 1PM and it takes less than 1hour from whrere I was to the stadium.
I contacted  my friend who lives in Osaka. We decided to go in order to watch the game since she was free.

I had been to the Koshien stadium for the professional baseball game.(but not for the high school one)However, the atmosphere was totally different.Everyone was ... cheering hard and emotionally. I could not believe that it is the same stadium as which I had been to.
The result was satisfactory. We won the game!
I and my friend shared the happiness with people who were sitting next to us.
Even we did not know each other,we enjoyed and had a great time together.
The next game is the semifinal of the tournament tomorrow.
I can not wait the game!!!

Now Hiroshima is really hot on baseball. Not only the Koryo high school  but also our professional baseball team,Carps is going TOP for this season now. I can not help hoping that both of them will be a champion!

GO Koryo High school! Go Carps! GO GO Hiroshima!

Summer trip to Osaki-shimojima

I brought my friends to Osaki-shimojima where my parent were born and my grand parents live, for first time.

The island has beautiful mountains and sea so it is the best place to feel summer.

We had BBQ on beach, swam and fish etc...
We have done all of the summer things.

I'm so glad my friends had fun and loved the place.

I don't put any photo on this blog because I want you guys to go there and find how beautiful the island is.

See you next time.

Day trip to Miyama Village for cooling

Kimy from J-Stay

Wish you the best during the hot summer !
According to Japanese traditional calendar season of autumn started form this 7th August.
But Kyoto is still hot and has humidity a lot  like hell. :*)

This weekend I organized Miyama Village day trip tour with J-Stay guests.
From 10:00am I pick them up each house by my family car and then we went to Miyama.
There are 3 guest from France, South Africa and USA. I pick up them by myself.

It is the first time to drive to Miyama under traffic jam during Obon festival.
We took almost 2 hours no stop driving.
Reserved seats from 12:30. So we arrived almost on time.

Cafe Furuya http://furu-ya.com/
The owner from Kochi prefecture and start to open restaurant after renovation of her mother's house at Miyama.

Strawberry shaving ice

Temperature is 24-30 degrees so it was much cooler than Kyoto city.
But Next to the restaurant there is river side. So we went to soak legs at river to feel nature cooling.
We found small crab, small fish and newt with red stomach.

And then we visited Miyama Kamabuki No Sato Village (Small traditional house village)
We caught small frogs from rice field and got around.
The color contrast was so beautiful , blue sky, green rice field and some flowers and brown rooftop.

Catching frogs

Cafe Miran (which means beautiful eggs) They have good eggs and milk
He is from corn field

Let's Survive the Hot Summer

Konnichiwa from Hiroshima Hana Hostel. It's Kana here.
It's really hot and humid in Japan and it is killing me... How are you guys dealing with it?

To overcome this hotness, We try to eat salty stuff to avoid heat stroke.
Also we lose appetite during summer so we  tend to eat cold dishes.

So I made UMEBOSHI to consume salt, and made cucumber pickles to get an appetite!!

UMEBOSHI contains a lot of salt and took almost 1 year to make it.Stepping a lot of processes.

Cucumber pickles took only 1 day to make it.
Boil the m in the hot water for few minutes and mixed up with seasonings and leave it in the fridge for over night. How simple it is!!!

If you have any particular stuff to overcome hot summer, please give me a tip!

The 3rd anniversary party in Qbeh!

We had a party for Q-beh's 3rd anniversary on June in Qbeh!
This is my first anniversary party because I joined Qbeh last July.
I was really happy to be here for such a commemorable day.

We made mini pizza with dumpling skins and our staff made us some super yummy dishes such as chinese style Gyoza, boiled peanuts, drum stick chicken and so on...
My stomach said "No more fooood..." but my hands didn't stop to bring yummy foods into my mouth. (and also alcohol)
And it was really nice opportunity to had a chat with people who visited here to celebrate us.

One month later, it was my 1st year anniversary in Q-beh.
I felt very quick but I got many things from this 1 year.
I didn't think that I could get used to this job because there were so many things to memorise and need to work my brain quick!
But, somehow, I am still working here and I think I got used to it.
Working in same place for a year is my first experience in my life so it has really big meaning to me.
And I believe that something inside me had a good change and my English improved a bit.

Thank you to everyone who help me and drink with me.
Thank you, thank you!

3 days in Nagano

Since living in Takayama, I am always looking for plateau for easy hiking. Chances came to me last month as my sister came to visit me and would like to explore new hiking routes with me. Fortunately, my friend can get the day off to drive us for the trip. It is around 3 hours drive from Takayama to Matsumoto via Naraijuku (奈良井宿). Narajuku is famous for the old streets and soba (buckwheat) noodles. We enjoyed a nice lunch there and then continue to our first destination Hachibuse Yama(鉢伏山) in our journey. The weather is perfect that we are able to see the beautiful Lake Suwa clearly. The color of the plants, flowers, grass and the sky create a wonderful contrast which we could never forget it. After that, we checked in at our guesthouse and drove to a close-by Asama onsen (浅間温泉) before dinner. We are lucky to be able to join the morning event in the guesthouse to buying fresh pastries from the local bakery in Matsumoto :)

The day after, we headed to Utsukushigahara (美ヶ原)plateau for hiking. Unfortunately, we do not have the luck of the weather, it was super cold, windy and foggy on top of the mountain. It was only 8 degree Celsius. We walked about 1.5 hour to the top and quickly drove back to our ryokan for dinner and hotspring. It is one of the best ryokan that I like the most with high quality meals and especially the free upgrade of newly-built spacious private onsen.

On the last day, we went to Azumino Wasabi farm and a cafe in the forest. Growing wasabi needs fresh and clean water which Nagano has the perfect environment of that. Would you like to try the fresh wasabi? The farm is scenic where you can also try wasabi ice cream and croquette. Don’t miss the cafe in the forest as it is a drive of 20 minutes from Wasabi farm. It is a cafe without cashier that you can decide the price of the drink and pay in the little box!!!

Nagano is a place with lot of nature, delicious food and natural hot spring!!! Please visit it if you would like to escape from the big cities!!

How to put our heads together!!!???

Then, my request was accepted by everyone since my sister gave in. hehe

〆はチーズリゾットがオススメ♪

PEACE TATTOO

Hey, this is Shiz from J Hoppers Hiroshima.
I've been thinking about this for 2years and I think I'm gonna get one this year, Peace Tattoo! It's kinda annual tatoo event in Hiroshima in August, based on the A Bomb memorial day.
The tattoo artists are working as a charity to spread peace around the world and they offer the chance to have this tattoo based on a folded paper crane. Paper cranes come originally from the ancient Japanese tradition of origami, paper folding but today they are known as a symbol of peace.

And every year for 2 days in August, there is a chance to get this peace tatoo.
The price is 3000yen and this will be donated to the Hiroshima city foundation for the preservation and promotion of the A Bomb Dome.

I was born and grew up in Hiroshima and I love my city.
Hiroshima is a really beautiful city. I love it when I look at it from this angle here.lol

The tattoo artists are giving this peace tattoo chance to about 1000 people and I'm hoping to get one this year:)
