Ko Iwashi Fishing

I love going fishing. And even though these little silver fellows do not put up much of a fight, Ko Iwashi fishing is so much fun. If you leave the fishing hooks in the water, you can catch 6 at a time. And then you have to try and pick them all up off the floor when they are wriggling around. It can be great fun for kids old and young.

Also they are great to eat. Tempura or poached in ginger and soy, with some sugar. You can also eat them as sashimi.there are so many ways to cook and eat them. Its just a shame that they only come around for a few weeks just before the summer. So now is the time. I have a secret spot which normally brings home around 50 for an hours work, But I will have to keep it to myself as its quite a small location.  ;0)

Also look out for Aji (Horse Mackerel). They can be found in amongst the Iwashi looking for a snack. It can come as a shock when one takes your lure so stay on your toes, they are quite genki.
But the main thing about fishing is to get out the house, and relax with yourself, away from all the busy city life. Fishing will relieve stress and maybe fill up your belly with fresh seafood.

Go!Carp!!Go!!!

Hi there!!This is Chika from J-Hoppers Hiroshima gusthouse.
Are you enjoying travering in Japan?Or Are you,by any chance, thinking to travel to Japan??

Usually,June and July,it is as  known as Rainy season in Japan.
But it doesn't rain whole month. Please don't be depressed!!

If you are traveling in Japan now.I definetally reccomend you to watch the baseball game at the studium!!

It was nice and sunny today. That's why I went to the stadium with my friend.
They lost the last game yesterday. So I really wanted Carp to win the game.

Grab some snacks and beer at the grocery supermarket in JR Hiroshima station.
And now, it's time to cheer up!!

(To get a ticket, you don't need to book a seat in advance.Of cause, you can book a seat via internet.
However,I always get a ticket at the studium on the day.so you don't need to book it in advance, but except some popular games!!Non-reserved seat:1600yen~ :-)

It was sunny day this evening.so There were lots of people there today.
In the first inning, Bay stars scored a run.And in the second inning,Carp scored two runs!!!!
After that until in the 9 inning,Both team didn't get any scored.
So Hiroshima Carp won the game!!!!YES!!!!!

It seems it's a bit hard to get a feel of how fun the baseball game is.
So if you have a chance to visit Hiroshima,Please go to the studium!

The teams will play league games during the baseball season from April to October.
You shouldn't miss the chance!!

Hiroshima Mazda studium is just right there!!Let's watch a baseball game together!!

Hello!!

It is a nice season for hiking, isn't it?
I went to "Utue 48 waterfalls" in Kokufu.

JR Kokufu is just two stations from JR Takayama station.
There is free shuttle bus to the onsen called "Yuyu-kan"

You can also go to the waterfalls by same shuttle bus.

It was the best timing to see the Japanese primrose.
(You can see them around 20 of June)

200 yen for the entrance fee, but you can get 100 yen discount for Yuyu-kan (Onsen).
This flower park is pretty famous, because they were on the national newspaper.

A lot of people were there from all over Japan!!
Here you can also enjoy hiking!!

If you go there by car, there is a parking.
The entrance fee 200 yen for the waterfalls, if you show this ticket
to the staff of Yuyu-kan, you can get 100 yen discount for Onsen also.

It was so beautiful!!
It takes about 1hour - 1and half hour for round trip.

You need to walk to Yuyu-kan for taking shuttle bus though.
(About 20 min)

I recommend there after walking:)

It was just 4 hours stay, but I could flower garden, waterfalls and Onsen!!

I recommend this half day trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UME

Hello there!
This is Masa from J-Hoppers Hiroshima.

We are having Tokasan Festival (one of the three biggest festivals in Hiroshima) last three days. There were lots of people wearing Yukata (summer kimono) and it made me feel like summer has come.

The other day, our regular guest sent us a box with full of UME (plums).

So I tried to make my first UMESHU (Japanese plum liqueur)

And I made it !!!
I really enjoyed making it and the sweet scent.
There were lots of steps, but pretty simple and easy.
It should be ready to drink in a few months... Can't wait it!

Soon the rainy reason is arriving in Japan, then summer is just around the corner.
I hope everyone have a lovely summer! :)
