SHI-N-KA...= evolution

On this season, they didn't show us any SHINKA in the past....
Unfortunately they will go down to division 2 to the next season if they go on...

On the end of this summer they have 3 important games in Kyoto Home stadium.
If they make consecutive wins, they will show us them SHINKA on the division 1!!
If they cannot... I cannot say anything ...

They don't have a big stadium like a FC Barcelona.
Just 20,000 seat in the stadium... But always less than10.000 supporter...

Why don't you become a "supporter"while you're here?

They don't need a big name couch, and super star like a Kaka, Messi.
I think they need Big warm supporters!!

In Kyoto, It is still hot on the day time. But in the evening little bit getting cool.
Why don't you go out and join us?

▲△Factory tour in Osaka△▲▲

Hi there!! This is Chika from J-Hoppers Hiroshima.

The other day I visited to Osaka with my boy friend.

Speaking of Osaka, you know what that brings to mind?

Takoyaki??Osaka castle??Kaiyukan(an aquarium)??
Thare are so many palces and things to do in Osaka.

However, the place where we visited is "Maishima Incineration Plant"

The plant is designed by Friedensreich Hundertwasser.

Friedensreich Hundertwasser was an Austrian painter and architect,he became one of the best-known contemporary Austrian artists.

he is more widely known for his individual architectural designs. These designs use irregular forms, and incorporate natural features of the landscape.

Since I was junir high student,I like his art works and architecture.

When I saw the building ,I felt like that I am in his art works.

If you want to join the factory tour ,you have to book the tour in advanse.
I recommend you to take the tour. That was so interesting!!

As the one of great tourist site, why don't you go there??It is worth a lot:-)

Maze Fireworks !!

I went to see some fireworks events this summer.

But I think it is the best gorgeous one around here.

★ Maze ★

Maze is a mountain village, at 500m high,

long 25km from North to South,

and wide 4km East to West.

When you come to visit there,

you will find these scenes of "good old days".

Fire works----★★

You can enjoy fireworks drops out of the sky.

Could you hear the sounds??

It's rumbling echoing from the fireworks.

I liked it very much, it's drum-like sound:)

I recommend you to go to see this event next year--!!

Night Market Beer Party

We sometimes wrote about Shoten dori shopping street(聖天通り商店街),where our J-Hoppers Osaka is located. This shopping street is famous for fortune-telling,but they also aggressive to community development and organize events often.
The night market is one of them and held every August. It's only one day and just 3 hours in the evening, but always many people come and enjoy each restaurant's one day food stall.

This is our third year and we finally joined this night market for the first time!
We organized the Draft Asahi beer party for our guests first, and then opened for local Japanese people who is curious to communicate foreigners.. hoping it would be good opportunity for our neighbors to know us and become closer.

People hesitated to come in at first, but one came and the other came after..

It became such a big and fun party.. successful!!

Many thanks to everyone, especially our big boss Mr. Iida, thank you to BBQ with fighting heaps mosquitoes and took awesome photo/movies.
Thank you Mr.Yano, cooked upgraded Yakisoba(noodle) and set up great party place with lanterns and tables.
Thank you our boss Mr.Yamaguchi, called and invited local people at the front door,
and thank you Smiley Sawako to help setting up tables etc.
Thank you Kiyo-san,prepared yummy nachos in your kitchen and brought here!

And, thank you a lot for our guests and Japanese people who joined us!
We're glad to know that our neighbors had good impression of us and just wanted a chance to talk with foreigners.. we will organize next event which local Japanese/travelers enjoy together, and try our hostel become more fun place!

Takayama traditional craft.

When you come to Takayama.
You will find many many many of this ....

Many guests asked me " What is this??"

Some of guests answered...Red devil

This is a traditional Takayama's craft called "Sarubobo".
It's like a lucky charm.

According to Wikipedia..

In these days, there are many color Sarubobo.
Just my opinion, I like the RED one. It is traditional color.

Witch color do you like?

Kakigori Party !

It's been really hot this summer in Japan!
Around 35 degrees everyday...

We all are melting at J-Hoppers Hiroshima from this heat,
so we had a Kakigori Party the other night!

Kakigori is a Japanese summer dessert
made from shaved ice flavored with syrup.

But before the dessert, we served Takoyaki (Octopus Ball)
and Somen Noodle (Japanese Summer noodle) first.

Making their first Takoyaki...

And then...
time for dessert!

There was a cue with guests waiting for Kakigori.
It was a good dessert for a sweltering night.

Lots of guests helped us cleaning after the party.
Thank you so much everyone. We really appreciate it!

Also you did good work our lovely Kakigori maker!

Kiyomizu Temple Lit up

Are you all doing fine with this HOT HOT Summer ?

Well... I'm not fine at all !!
I am totally suffering from this summer heat badly.

These days,
I stay inside during daylight and go out at NIGHT when the outside gets cooler.
I went up to Kiyomizu Temple at night a week ago with my friends.
There was a special Temple Lit Up (from 6th August to 16th August 2010)

Also,there was Sennichi Mairi ( A thousand Visit )
that you could get inside of the main hall of the temple.

* A thousand visit =effects to visit the temple for a thousand times even once you visit the temple in the period

It was absolutely amazing to see plenty of mysterious Buddha statues inside.
You are not be able to see them for your normal visit in daytime.
Unfortunately, they don't allow to take inside photos.

There are some specials days to visit at night in some of the season there.
Next time will be in Autumn starting from the 17th November to 12th December 2010.

Lit up of the temple was also gorgeous.
We found the best spot to see night landscape of Kyoto City.

I recommend you to visit there at night for next time !
You'll probably be able to see beautiful Autumn leaves.

Ciao !

Kameoka Firework

Impossible to be in Japan in summer without going to fireworks !
This year we were looking for some less crowded place. So we decided to go to Kameoka, west of Kyoto. This is not a major one, compare to PL, Yodogawa, etc..., but with 5000 bangs during one hour it's still enough ! Also, it takes place atop flat fields and offers a lot of good and easy points of view. People mainly gathers on the side of Katsura river, few minutes walk from Kameoka station.
Indeed it's been a very quiet evening. There was so few people ! No need to fight in the train, or to find some place to seat. We had a happy lunch on a large square of grass, and could enjoy all the show without anything in the view. When we came back we could even seat in the train, incredible ! But I've heard it's not the case every year. This time several big fireworks occurred the same day. It certainly helped ...

2010 Naniwa Yodogawa Fireworks Festival

It has been a really hot summer, hasn't it.
Hope you all are surviving somehow.

In Osaka, the annual fireworks festival at the Yodogawa river took place on August 7th. Every year so many people come to the river side and work hard to save a good place for the fireworks. Well, why bother? We can enjoy it from a roof deck of J-Hoppers Osaka!

This year, one of our cleaners hosted a Yakisoba (pan-fried noodles) party for the guests on the roof.

Very well-organized !

The curious guests rapidly grew larger to enjoy Yano's dishes.

Fumi-san, Ranna-chan, Sai-san and his friends, it was a great help, thank you all so much!!

(Top) A home-like and a very relaxing atmosphere
(Bottom) Filled with the sound of fireworks exploding

Mr. Yano, the cook

A new regular staff, Ranna, in J-Hoppers Osaka.

A Commemorative photo of the party

We are thankful to all the people who attended the party for making the day very special.
