Shisha bar in Hiroshima!!

Today,I want to talk about Shisha(Hoohak).
Have you tried shisha before??

A hookah, also known as a waterpipe or Shisha (which refers specifically to Egyptian hookahs) is a single- or multi-stemmed instrument for vaporizing and smokingflavored tabacco  called shisha  in which the vapor or smoke is passed through a water basin (often glass-based) before inhalation. Depending on the placement of the coal above the shisha, a hookah can be used to produce smoke by burning the shisha or used to create water vapor by melting it at a lower temperature.

There is only one Shisha bar which is calles Nemurineko in Hiroshima.
One of my frineds work there .
So the other day,I took some guest to the bar.
And then we shared the shisha together.

We had a great time and ha a really good shisha there!

My frinens,he will open fis own shisha bar near J-Hoppers Hiroshima on this November!
So  If you are interested in it,please ask me and let's go together!!

Natural onsen

Have you ever tried real natural hot spring?

I went to Yumata onsen is located in Northern Alps, Nagano.
It took for 3 hours hike from Takase dam lake toSeiran hut in Omachi, Nagano
and another 20 minutes to natural hot spring.

It was so beautiful, the billow of steam rising from the shallow of narrow valley.

To enjoy this hot spring needs a shovel to dig, make own bath tab,
and draw the water of the river.
Adjusting to get nice hot water was harder than I thought.
I could not get in the first day because it was too hot on the bottom and too cold on the top.
The second day, the water of river rose because of rain from last night.
The water turned to be just right temperature to get in.
I lcould lie in nice hot spring  with beautiful green in mountains.
It was the greatest hot spring that I've ever been!

My home town Osaka.

I am currently working in kyoto but I am originally from Osaka. My high school and university are located in south part of Osaka, and I used to hung out with friends in the area. After I started to work in Kyoto, opportunities to go Osaka has been getting less though. Last week,as I got something to do in Osaka,I went there after long. I and Shiori(night duty staff in Kyoto Hana) headed for Shinsekai area to have some kushikatsu and enjoy Spa-World. Kushikatsu is one of famous food in Osaka. It is like deep fried BBQ,comes from 80yen one stick. You can see so many those restaurants there. We actually took 30min to pick one of them. Some of them have a line and some of them do not and it is kind of difficult to find nicer one from those so many. We pick one cause they had various menu more than 100.
It was really nice and we spent 2 hours for eating only kushikatsu. Next place,it is Spa-World just next to the kushikatsu area. We relaxed in fantastic atmosphere spa after we got full. They have Asia zone and Europe zone. Those zones take turn and change for male and female. We got Europe zone for female in July. Atlantis,Greek,Roman and more spa are available! If you have never tried it,it would be nice cause you can feel like traveling the world...for a little while.
My recommendation is Europe zone more than Asian as it more like foreign. When you are a bit tired of touristic places like ruins, castles, you can try Shinsekai area then for a break.

MU game

I went to see Manchester United game at Yokohama stadium.

They played against Yokohama marinos

I was there for Shinji Kagawa.I  really support him very much.

I was very happy to see him play.He only played about 25 minutes.

That made us disappointed us because most people came to see him

Yesterday MU played against another J league team.

Kagawa got a score!I was very excited! I hope I will go to see premier league someday!

Mt. Norikura-dake

Mt. Norikura is part of the Hida Mountains and it is listed among the 100 famous Japanese moutains. It has 23 mountains and highest peak is 3,026m.

Mt. Norikura is kind easy to climb, you can go up to 2,702m by bus.

The easiest one is Mt. Maoh, it takes 15 minutes from the bus terminal (tatami-daira).

Last Monday I tried to climb to Mt. Kengamine, which is the highest one.

At first it was really foggy and I could not see anything, but when I got to the top of the mountain the blue sky came out!

This is the lake I could see from the mountain!

I could see many alpine flowers as well as animals!!!
They are so pretty!!!

Now is the best timing to see the alpine flowers!!!!

Please come to see them :D

New Vegan Cafe in Kyoto

This is Kimy from J-Stay (Guest house &Share House agency)
According to old calender day after tomorrow is the hottest day of year(Taisho) and full moon.
Old calender could tell us what I have to prepare for variable weather in advance. When we are in hot  summer best way to release heat of body is eating something hot, hot noodle and soup. Sweat is best cool down.
I tried to do, but girls love ice cream! And cold noodle give us appetite!!

My Summer Favorites!

Hi! I'm Hiro from J-Hoppers Hiroshima.
It's feeling more and more like summer!
What are your favorite foods during the summer?

In Japan, we have many refreshing treats to help you beat the heat.
Today, I will recommend some of my favorite summer foods to you!

I know that you have it in your country, but we have a lot of unique flavors.
The flavor I reccomend is "UJIKINTOKI" with green tea syrup and red bean.
If you like green tea, I'm sure that you will love it!!
Just try it one time.

The white noodles which are very thin made of wheat flour, and usually served cold
with a light flavored dipping sauce or tsuyu.
The tsuyu is usually a katsuobushi-based sauce that can be flavored with
Welsh onion, ginger, or myoga.
In the summer, somen chilled with ice is a popular meal to help stay cool!

**RAMUNE(soda pop)**
Its flavor is like lemon lime. The word "ramune" is derived phonetically from
the English "lemonade."
To open the bottle, a device to push the marble inward is provided.
The marble is pushed inside the neck of the bottle where it rattles around while
You can buy it at supermarkets or  souvenir shops during the summer!

If you have chance to come to Japan during the summer,
you should definitely try them!

Only 1000 people can go there once a year from all over Japan!! ( In a lottery!!)

There is the place called "Super Kamiokande"inside of the mine.

It means "Super-Kamioka Neutrino Detection Experiment"

We had training in advance. ↓↓

Those are pictures of the event!!

Section1: History about "Kamioka mine"

Section2: "Heavy equipment"

Section3: Learn about "Neutrino" by Tokyo University.

A lot of famous people visited here, like Masatoshi Koshiba!!
(He jointly won the  the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2002 )

Section4: About "KamLAND" and "Antineutrino Detector" by Tohoku University.

It was difficult, but I thought I'd like to know more about it!!

Great place for souvenir shopping, even late at night!

Have you ever been to a shop called "Don Quijote" ?

Coming out Ghibli Film "Kazetachinu (The Wind Rises)"

New Ghibli film by directore Hayao Miyazaki is coming out on July 20th! It is the first film for Ghibli on the actual war in the course of Japan moving from Taisho to Shouwa period, which its main character modeled on the actual person. Different from all the other Ghibli films, It is the half non-fiction human drama story which is enough to make the director cry when he first watched the completed film. (and this was his first time to cry by his own films) The voice actors are really surprising, starting from Anno Hideaki acting as the main character, Jiro Horikoshi, to the old Ghibli staff(American guy now back to USA) playing German guy singing is German. Also, the most surprising this for me is that the fact as many sounds in the film as possible is actually made from many consequences of human voice! Definitely worth going to the cinema for it! Every Wednesday is lady's day when tickets discounted to 1000 yen:) For males, don't be disappointed, 1st day of every month is also 1000 yen for anybody! Can't wait!

Are you guys ready for summer?!
We have many events in summer,I already got new yukata for a firework festival this year!
I can't wait!!!!!

I want to introduce one event which is called Tanabata, the Star Festival in English , it's on the 7th of July.
Asian people might know about this but I don't think many Western people know this since Tanabata originates from Chinese legend of the two bright stars, Altair and Vega.

I will interoduce Tanabata and what we do for the 7th of July.

The Star Festival originates from Chinese legend of the two bright stars, Altair and Vega.
Vega is a weaving girl, we call her Orihime in Japanese, she worked very hard for King but he felt sorry for her since she didn't have a boyfriend so he let her to see Altair who is a cowherd boy.
We call him Hikoboshi in Japanese.

They loved each other and got married but eventually they stoped working hard since they had too much fun being together.
King's clothing got so dirty, cows got sick since they didn't work at all.

The king got angry and separated them by the big river or the Milky Way.
He allowed them to meet once a year across the Milky Way only on the night of July 7th.

On that day, people decorate bamboo branches with paper strips and ornaments to celebrate their reunion.
It is believed that a wish comes true when you write your wish on the paper strips and hang them on the bamboo.

This is what we do for Tanabata.
Have you seen this somewhere in Japan?

We have Tanabata event for the 7th of July in Osaka, Tenmangu.
It's from 4pm to 8:30pm
Why don't you go in Yukata:)
